The prototype is the moment of truth: when your design finally becomes a royal head that you can touch, wear and evaluate. This is a fundamental step to verify that everything works before investing in the production of samples.
Skipping the prototyping phase is one of the most costly mistakes an emerging designer can make. It is better to invest in a prototype and correct any problems than to end up with an entire sample collection that needs to be redone.
What we verify
- Fit - Does the garment fit as expected?
- Proportions - Are the lengths and volumes correct?
- Construction - Do the seams and assemblies work?
- Comfort - Is it comfortable to wear and move around in?
- Materials - Is the fabric behaving as expected?
- Details - Are the pockets, fastenings and finishes correct?

The prototype is the first physical garment made from a paper pattern. It is used to check the fit, proportions and construction details before proceeding with the complete sample collection.
Usually, 1-2 prototypes are needed per garment. The first is to check the basic structure, the second (if necessary) is for corrections. Complex garments may require more iterations.
You can send us your fabric, or we can make the prototype in a similar fabric (toile) to keep costs down, using the final fabric only for the final sample.
