In brief.
Be A Designer is a design studio based in Gallarate (Varese) which has been developing and producing clothing for brands and companies for 12 years. For the nautical sector, it designs uniforms for yacht and charter crews, logo-branded garments for yacht clubs and sailing schools, and capsule collections for nautical brands: polo shirts, shirts, trousers, technical T-shirts, sweatshirts and softshell jackets, all made from fabrics selected to withstand sun, salt air and frequent washing. As a guide, a ‘Made in Italy’ shirt costs €40–80, a pair of trousers €35–70, a technical T-shirt €10–18 and a softshell jacket €45–90. It does not produce technical safety clothing such as ocean-grade oilskins or life jackets.

Team, club, brand.
On board, your clothing is put through its paces: sun, salt air, movement and constant washing. And at the same time, it represents the boat, the club or the brand to your guests.
Team kits
Matching polo shirts, shirts, trousers and Bermuda shorts for yacht and charter crews, with the boat’s name embroidered on them.
Yacht clubs and sailing schools
Technical T-shirts, sweatshirts and softshell jackets featuring the club logo, for instructors, members and club regattas.
Boating brands
A capsule collection developed from scratch for a brand with a nautical style, including fabric research and prototyping.
Basic garments or made-to-measure uniforms.
These are two different approaches in terms of cost, time and image. The choice depends on who will be wearing the garments and how you want the boat or club to be perceived.
Personalised basic garments
High-quality polo shirts, T-shirts and sweatshirts, personalised with embroidery and labels: the quickest way to kit out a team or club members.
Bespoke uniforms and caps
Shirts, trousers and jackets tailored to your style, with careful selection of fabrics and prototyping, produced in workshops within 30 km of Gallarate.
The two approaches can be combined: basic garments for deck work, and bespoke uniforms for guest service. We’ll choose them together during our first call.
A short and transparent supply chain.
Shirts, trousers, technical T-shirts, sweatshirts and softshell jackets are manufactured in workshops within 30 km of Gallarate. Customised basic garments, such as polo shirts, may be made in Europe or outside Europe: we tell you this on a garment-by-garment basis and do not present them as ‘Made in Italy’.
Be A Designer doesn’t just handle production. We only undertake pure contract manufacturing for VAT-registered individuals and established companies. Those starting from scratch go through the full programme: it’s the safest way to avoid spending money on production before knowing what to sell, to whom and at what price.
Prototypes and production stay close: we go to the workshop instead of sending emails.
